Competency Assessment

Find Out Where People Really Are.

Focus Development on What Will Actually Make a Difference.

Most development plans are built on assumption. A manager’s gut feel. A self-assessment that tells people what they already believe about themselves.

Development Compass gives you real data. What people are genuinely strong at. Where the gaps are. And the context to understand why.

The Problem

Great 360 Tools Exist. Most Organisations Cannot Afford Them.

The established providers charge thousands for limited seat licences. You pay for a platform, not a per-assessment price. You are locked into their system, their timelines, and their support team.

For independent coaches and facilitators, it is even worse. The cost makes it impossible to offer 180 and 360 assessments at a price that works for clients.

We built Development Compass to change that.

Affordable. Fully configurable. Completely in your control. From £70 excl. VAT.

What It Is

180 and 360 Degree Competency Assessment. Built Around Your World.

Development Compass measures how people show up against the competencies that matter in your organisation, through their own eyes, their manager’s eyes, and the eyes of the people they work with every day.

180 Degree Assessment

The participant assesses themselves. Their manager assesses them. The report shows where they agree, where they see things differently, and where the blind spots are.

From £70 excl. VAT.

360 Degree Assessment

Everything in the 180, plus feedback from direct reports, peers, and others. A complete picture of how someone shows up across the organisation.

From £90 excl. VAT.

The Library

83 Competencies. 1,280 Statements. Ready to Go.

Development Compass comes with a complete competency library built in. Four categories covering every role type. Everything you need to build a meaningful assessment from day one.

And if the statement is not quite right for your organisation’s language, edit it. If a competency is missing, add it. If you want to build something entirely bespoke, you can.

How It Works

Simple to Set Up. Powerful to Use.

Choose your competencies

Select from the library. Choose the categories and individual competencies relevant to this group. Pick up to five statements per competency, or edit them to match your language.

Configure the assessment

Add your participants, set open and close dates, schedule reminders, and set the blind spot threshold: the point at which a gap between self and manager scores is flagged as a development priority.

Launch

One click. Invitations go out. Progress is visible from the moment the first person opens their assessment.

Track completion

See exactly who has completed, who is pending, and who needs a nudge. Send reminders manually or leave them on schedule. No chasing CultureHub to find out where things are.

Read the comments

Before releasing any report, read the open comments respondents have left. Make sure nobody will receive a shock. Release with confidence.

Release the reports

Release to the participant only, the manager only, or both simultaneously. On your timeline. In your control.

Blind Spots

Surprises Are Not Useful. Blind Spots Are.

There is a difference between a minor scoring difference and a genuine blind spot.

Development Compass lets you set the blind spot threshold before the assessment launches. Only gaps that are genuinely significant, where the participant sees themselves very differently to how others see them, are flagged as blind spots in the report.

Minor differences do not create unnecessary noise. Real gaps surface as real development priorities.

And because you can read all comments before releasing reports, nobody receives feedback that blindsides them. You review first. You release when you are ready.

The DISC Connection

Why the Scores Look the Way They Do.

Development Compass sits in the same platform as DISC: same login, same people, same organisation. Where a participant has completed both, their DISC behavioural preferences add context to their competency results. Not just what the gaps are, but why they might exist.

That context changes the coaching conversation completely. And no other tool on the market offers it.

How your preferences could help

Your high Loyalty (95) means when you believe in what you are selling, you genuinely want customers to benefit. Your Connection (94) gives you the ability to read when someone is ready to move forward.

Where your preferences may be getting in the way

Your very low Directness (21) suggests you may prefer to let customers reach their own conclusions. Your low Structure (6) could mean you are not following a consistent closing process, leaving opportunities to drift.

A competency result with its DISC context note alongside, showing not just the gap, but why it might exist.

For Organisations.

Run Development Compass yourself, let CultureHub manage it for you, or a bit of both. The platform gives you full visibility and control at every stage, without having to check in with anyone.

You are always in control

See exactly who has completed, who is pending, and what comments have been left, at any moment, without asking us.

Manage it yourself or let us help

Run the whole process independently. Or have CultureHub set it up, manage completion, and release reports on your behalf. Or anything in between.

Fully configurable per cohort

Different competencies for different teams. Different thresholds. Different release strategies.

Integrated with DISC

One platform, one login. Participants who have completed DISC get behavioural context layered into their competency results automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a 180 and a 360 degree assessment?

A 180 degree assessment involves the participant assessing themselves and their manager assessing them. A 360 adds feedback from direct reports, peers, and others, giving a complete picture of how someone shows up across the organisation.

How many competencies does Development Compass include?

83 competencies across four categories: 21 Universal, 23 Leadership, 21 Sales, and 21 Customer Success, with 1,280 behavioural statements in total. All statements are editable and custom competencies can be added.

Can we use our own competency framework?

Yes. Every statement in the library is editable. Custom competencies and statements can be added per organisation. You can use the library as a starting point and shape it entirely around your language and priorities.

How does the blind spot threshold work?

You set the threshold before launch: the minimum gap between a participant's self-score and their manager's score for something to be flagged as a blind spot. This ensures only genuinely significant differences surface as development priorities, not minor scoring variations.

Can we read comments before releasing reports?

Yes. Before releasing any report, admins can read all open comments left by respondents. This means nobody receives feedback that blindsides them. You review first and release when you are confident.

How does Development Compass connect to DISC?

Both tools sit in the same platform with the same login. Where a participant has completed DISC, their behavioural preferences add context to their competency results, showing not just where the gaps are, but why they might exist.

How much does it cost?

A 180 degree assessment starts from £70 excl. VAT. A 360 starts from £90 excl. VAT. There is no subscription. You buy credits and use them when you need them. Associates access discounted rates.

Can independent coaches use Development Compass with their clients?

Yes. Associates manage their own client organisations within the platform, access discounted rates on all assessments, and have full control with no dependency on CultureHub. Buy credits when you have an assessment to run.
